There are three steps we will employ to maximize our time in India. First, the Indian pastors have been reading through the NT themselves since November. When the OT class came to an end, the pastors were given a reading schedule for the NT. The schedule outlined daily goals that directed the reading of the NT so that the men will have completed the reading of the whole of the NT before our March classes. The pastors were also given the course manual on NT Survey from the Bible Training Centre for Pastors. After their personal reading of a NT book, they then read the manual material in preparation for the NT class. Second, in the class itself, each session will begin with the first 40 minutes devoted to an overview of the NT book. The assigned teacher will quickly survey the background (author, audience, and occasion) of the book, its major themes, and its literary structure (outline). Then the teacher will walk/talk the students through a major passage of the book for about 30 minutes. Third, the men will then divide into their small groups for the final 50 minutes of the session. They will apply the skills of Bible Study Methods that were learned in the first seminar, May, 2009. During this time, they will be experiencing their own discovery of the message of the biblical book through the assigned passage. At the end of this group study and interaction, one or two of the groups will share with all the pastors what they have learned.
We have already divided the NT into twenty units which will serve as the basis for each session. Twenty 2-hour sessions equal the forty hours we will spend with the groups. The sessions will be taught by Keith Essex, Ryder Kumar, and our Indian leaders, Ravi in Hyderabad and Suresh in Lucknow. Another ministry opportunity for Keith and Ryder will be preaching in Indian churches. As with each of our trips and classes, we covet your prayers as we go.
The costs for the March conferences are in excess of $13,000. We not only incur expenses for our teachers to travel to India, but we also pay for all travel and lodging expenses for the Indian pastors. Remember what an incredibly poor nation India is…it’s the only way these men would be able to attend these critical Bible conferences. Additionally, all study books and materials are provided to the Indian pastors at no charge. If you are interested in helping with financial support for these conferences, please send your tax deductible contribution to STN, 18644 Sherman Way, Reseda, CA 91335, Attn: Tammy. Please know that 100% of your donation of any amount will go directly to ministry in India!
